Betty Joyce Fortune died September 27th, 2019 in her home in Sun City West. She was born in 1924 in Flint, Michigan and grew up in Chicago’s south side one block from Lake Michigan. She moved to Arizona in 1987 with her husband, Ray Fortune.
Betty earned her Associate of Arts Degree in Nursing at Triton College in River Grove, IL in 1977 and worked at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL eight years before retiring to AZ in 1987. She continued to volunteer for Hospice and Banner Boswell Medical Center while living in Sun City West.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Neil, Paul, and Todd; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Betty was a remarkably loving and kind individual whose greatest joy was interacting with people and sharing her love with them. Anyone who met her bonded with her very quickly. She loved her pug dogs (three over a span of 37 years) and was one of the founding members of the Canine Companions Club in Sun City West in 1988.
A memorial service will be held for Betty on Saturday October 12 at 10 a.m. at Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel, 13738 W. Camino del Sol, Sun City West, 85375.
