Bruce B. Harry of Sun City West, AZ, was born in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, June 22, 1927. He returned to his Heavenly Father September 19, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Alice, and 4 children; daughter, Marybeth; sons, David, Bruce, Jr. and Robert; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Bruce graduated from Elkhorn High School, Class of ’45, and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he played in the Admiral’s Navy Band. Bruce was a WWII veteran.
He was an accomplished musician and studied at The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Bruce was a member of the Sun City Concert Band where he enjoyed his love of music. After his music career ended he began a new career in sales and lithography.
When Bruce and Mary Alice retired they traveled in their motorhome until settling in Sun City West, AZ in 1993.
Bruce volunteered as an usher & co-captain of ushers at Prince of Peace Catholic Church for many years, starting at Palm Ridge Recreation Center until Prince of Peace Church was built in 1999.
Bruce also began volunteering with Sun City West PRIDES in 1993 until he was unable to continue due to health reasons.. He considered it an honor and most rewarding volunteering with The Society of St. Vincent de Paul helping out at their Phoenix warehouse sorting food and also visiting poor unfortunate families offering help in any way possible with St. Vincent de Paul aid.
There will be a Memorial Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, November 12, 2019 at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be in May 2020 in Burlington, Wisconsin, which is nearby the family former home in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
