July 14, 1934 ~ December 25, 2019 (age 85)

Obituary

Donna Lee Wilson was born July 14, 1934 in Salmon, Lemhi  Co., Idaho. She passed peacefully on Christmas morning, 2019, in Peoria, Maricopa Co., Arizona.

Donna was the only child of Stuart Ezekiel Lee, Jr.  and Leona Shanafelt Lee. Her Grandpa Lee and her Grandfather and Grandmother Shanafelt lived nearby, as she grew up, she was very close to them. Her parents divorced when she was young, Donna was raised by her a wonderful Mother, with a lot of support from grandparents.

She was a beautiful happy girl and loved animals, books, puzzles... Donna loved to make and create with her hands -- sewing, crocheting, knitting, porcelain dolls, cedar chests, etc. She attended school in Salmon and made many life-long friends. As a young girl she began attending meetings at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (then near her home on what is now Shanafelt Street). When she was 14, with her mother’s permission, she was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church.

It was also there that she became acquainted with Jed Wilson.  Donna and Jed fell in love and were married, May 16, 1950, in the Idaho Falls Temple, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They made their first home on Cabin Creek, at Forney, near Meyer’s Cove. She not only made their little house a home, but she quickly learned to drive a team of horses during haying season.

Their first two children, Robert and Philip were born in Salmon. Donna and Jed moved to Drummond, Montana in 1953 where they ranched several years with Jed’s parents. Their youngest three children were born in Montana: Teri, Sandra, and David. Donna loved her children. Family was everything to her.  Donna worked side by side with Jed on the ranch. In the late 1960’s, Donna and Jed moved back to Salmon, ID.

She always made a difference with her love and kind spirit. She was known for her warm welcoming hugs, her kindness, and her optimism.  She had many friends. Her daughters in law became some of her best friends. She was an amazing grandmother to her grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and any she claimed in any way. They were all loved.

Donna and Jed moved to Cache Valley, Utah, in 1981.  After Jed retired they began spending winters in Arizona and eventually moved there full time.

Donna is preceded by death her son Philip William Wilson,1977, and her husband Jed Eldon Wilson, 2004. Survived by her children  Bob and Beth Wilson, Pflugerville, TX; Teri Dinnell, Frenchtown, MT; Sandra and Kent Forsey, Sun City West, AZ; David and Teresa Wilson, Waddell, AZ, 16 grandchildren & 14 great-grandchildren.
