George Casillas passed away June 17, 2019. Born in San Bernardino, California, George enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1968 where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. It was during this time that he met, corresponded with, and later married his wife of 47 years, Liliane. A year later, his daughter, Valerie was born at Edwards Air Force Base and six years later at Hahn Air Force Base in Germany, the family welcomed a son, Matthew. George was stationed throughout the U.S. and Europe as an Air Traffic Controller and following the destruction of his home in Florida from Hurricane Andrew in 1992, he found himself at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona where after 26 years he retired. Following retirement from the military, he enjoyed working at such places like Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (where he put together incredible golf tournaments), Scottsdale Culinary Institute, and his final spot, Honeywell, where he worked in the same building with his son and daughter-in-law.
“Taco” as he is known to his good friends, enjoyed sunny (very hot) days out on the golf course and those great trips to Vegas (hopefully bringing back some hunskies)! He was an amazing grandfather to his two grandsons, Adam and Joshua who loved their trips to the pool hall and lunch afterwards with grandpa. George never met a stranger and everyone who met him always loved his friendly, jovial, easy going nature. His passing is an incredible loss to all his family and friends!
