August 31st, Gladys Wigstrom, beloved wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was called by the Lord to her eternal home. Gladys was born on July 19, 1919 in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Marius G. Merrick and Teresa Merrick (Linde). She is preceded in death by her husband,and high school sweetheart, Dean Wigstrom, her parents, sisters Alida and Myrtle and brothers Oliver, Gordon and Marvin Merrick.
Gladys is survived by son, Dean Wigstrom II ( Helen, deceased.), daughter Nancy Soine (Richard), grandchildren, Dr. Alison Wigstrom-Hoseth, Amy Wigstrom-Sonnen, Abby Wigstrom-Carlson, Major Andrew Soine, Erik Soine M.D and 13 great grandchildren.
After graduating from Central High School in St. Paul, Gladys attended secretarial school and was employed by Webb Publishing. Upon the arrival of her children, she stayed home and became a full-time homemaker. She loved to sew, garden, sing with her friends, and golf with her husband. Gladys was very involved in her churches through the years by attending women's circles and doing Bible study. In Sun City West, she attended Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
On July 19th, family celebrated her 100th birthday. She brought smiles to all who were able to join in the celebration! She will be missed.
A joint memorial service for Dean and Gladys will be held at 10:30 on September 28th, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church's chapel. 13724 W. Meeker Blvd. in Sun City West.
