James (Jim) Kenger of Scottsdale and Sun City West passed away peacefully on July 30, 2019 with his longtime partner, Nadine Sanville, by his side. He had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
Jim was born in Moundsville, WV on August 23, 1929 and was looking forward to celebrating his 90th birthday. His parents were Frank and Mary (Novel) Kenger. He had two sisters Dolores and Millie, and one brother Fred, all of whom are deceased.
He married Dorothy (Bruchnak) Kenger and they were blessed with eight beautiful children: 4 girls and 4 boys. His first born son, Michael, passed away of leukemia at the age of 2. His other children and their families are: Gerry (Linda, sons Justin and John), Christina (Ray), Mark (Sandy, sons Patrick, Kevin, and T.J.), Jill (Nathan), Victoria (Dave, sons Evan and Michael, daughter Madison), Anmarie, and Jonathan (Greg). In March, Jim also welcomed his first great-grandson, Jet!
Jim was employed by General Motors for 30 years in Michigan. After retiring, he moved his family to Scottsdale. He loved the familiar surroundings, having lived in Phoenix during his youth. He was drawn to flying and became a pilot. He took friends on air trips so they might share the grandeur of Arizona. He found great joy in singing and frequented several karaoke spots in Scottsdale. He was a fine storyteller and a caring man who easily developed many wonderful friends.
Later in life, Jim met Nadine, a woman he loved and spent more than 23 years with her as they shared their passions for singing, traveling, and enjoying life. His joyful spirit now lives on in the love of his family and friends
