Jean Richardson, a 20-year resident of Sun City West, went Home to the Lord on June 13, 2019 after a long battle with dementia. Born Jean Avanelle Lykins on January 27, 1920 in Indiana, she grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, but moved to Texas in 1942 and worked as a flight dispatcher at Kelly Air Force Base, San Antonio, for several years. She married Oran (Rich) Richardson, a WWII pilot and POW, in May 1947, but became his widow when he died in service to his country following a plane crash in September 1947. She then spent 30 years as an executive secretary to several organizations in both the private and federal government sectors. Her jobs took her to many parts of the United States, but she eventually returned to Texas in the 1960's and then moved to Arizona in 1997 to be closer to family. She was a 70-year member of P.E.O., a women's philanthropic organization, and until recently an enthusiastic member of several bridge clubs in Sun City West. Always friendly and energetic, she will be forever loved and missed by her sister, Mary Kroc of Surprise; nephew, Richard Kroc of Tucson; and niece, Carole Holt of Sun City West. Jean's friends are invited to gather with her family for a memorial service at Orchard Pointe Assisted Living Center in Surprise, AZ at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 13, 2019.
