Miriam died peacefully at age 96 in Surprise, AZ on May 18, 2019. She was born March 30, 1923 in Vernal, Utah to Ray and Amelia Reader. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Jack, Ray, Don, Larry, Ronnie Jean, grandchildren Allie Bennion and Brandon Bennion and survived by her brother Gordon. She attended school in Vernal and later moved to Phoenix along with her family.
Miriam’s loving husband, Marvin O. (Doc) Smith, passed away in 2006. She then married and is survived by Bryce Quinton of Surprise who loved and cared for her until her passing. She is also survived by her three children, Allen (Josie) Bennion, Cindy (Bob) Nixon, and Marvin O.II (JR) (Lois) Smith. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, and many stepchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Miriam worked along side her husband, Marvin, managing his Chiropractic offices in Phoenix and Safford, while operating a beauty supply store next door to her husband’s office. She found joy in serving members of her church community and working in the Mesa and Vernal temples for a total of 16 years.
Family and friends referred to her as Mickey and knew her well for her energy and fun sense of humor; she always knew how to make people laugh. She always had a story to tell about life growing up on the Sunshine Ranch and the love that she had for her parents and brothers.
Her funeral service will be on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel at 301 W. Wigwam Blvd. in Litchfield Park.
