Nancy Lynn Passarella, 67, of Sun City West Arizona passed away at Banner University Hospital on March 11, 2019. Nancy had experienced a devastating brain aneurysm. Due to her husband and best friend Ray’s quick actions, and Nancy’s strong moral resistance, Nancy held on to life so her 3 out of state children could be by her side as she crossed over. Ray lovingly interlocked both of his hands with Nancy’s right hand as she went to be with Jesus.
Nancy was born in Chicago Illinois at Grant Hospital to Walter and Alice Anderson. She is survived by two adoring brothers, David (Isolde) and Mark Anderson. She was adored for her kind heart and multitude of selfless acts. Raymond Passarella fell in love with this beautiful soul and married Nancy on June 3, 1972. Ray always said that Nancy was a saint for marrying him. During their loving marriage of almost 48 years, they had 3 children: Jennifer (Kurt) Woosencraft, Stephanie (Brian) McGuire, and Matthew (special friend Crystal) Passarella. In what would seem like soon after, Nancy would have 7 grandchildren: Alaina, Connor, Christopher, Maia, Caden, Megan, and Evan.
Not only was Nancy the most amazing wife, mother and grandmother, she was so kind and talented. She was accomplished in all of her administrative roles that she held. Her optimism was contagious and she always found the positives in any situation. Mostly, Nancy was known for her creativity and being an expert seamstress. She made her own clothes in high school, her wedding gown, and many Halloween costumes and outfits for her children and grandchildren. Nancy’s more recent sewing favorite was making purses and bags. She had a sense of humor and made Ray some shorts with allusive patterns for Ray to display on the golf course. Nancy was also the first Vice President of Rip n’ Sew Club of Sun City West. Nancy loved all of the friends she made at Rip n’ Sew. She loved teaching sewing, learning new sewing tricks and continued to make homemade gifts for others. She never accepted money in return. Making sure others were happy was Nancy’s pride and joy.
Nancy will be heart achingly missed by the love of her life, Ray, her children and grandchildren. Let’s not forget about Molly and Kokopelli who are looking around for Nancy every day. Nancy reunited with many loved ones in heaven including: her parents, grandson Evan, Mister, Cinnamon and Bubba. Nancy is also survived by many other dear family members and friends, too many to mention.
Nancy’s family would like to give a huge thank you to the Sun City West Fire and Rescue Station 103, Flight for Life, and the following staff at Banner University Hospital: Dr. Habib, Dr. Wilson, Registered Nurses Anita, Jessica and Nadia, Chaplain Amar and Father Williams for their expert care for Nancy and the sacrament of last rights. Thank you for maintaining her dignity.
In lieu of flowers, Nancy would have loved for everyone to donate to their local Humane Society or animal shelter. A memorial and celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at a later date.
