Andy was born Nov. 10, 1926, to Edward and Rose (Lang) Aurzada and passed away Dec. 22, 2019. The youngest of eight children, he worked on the family’s dairy farm until joining the army and serving in Germany during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, where he studied tool and die, going on to become a supervisor at his company.
A very dedicated husband and father, Andy married Henrietta Reiter and they had two children, Lynette and Steven, before divorcing. Andy married Helen Dorff, and they have been married 44 happy years. Andy and Helen loved to travel, and they explored much of the U.S. In 1991 they began going to Yuma, Arizona, to escape the Minnesota winters. In 2003, they moved to Surprise, Arizona.
Throughout his life, Andy was active in his communities, including Boy Scouts; Knights of Columbus, including as Grand Knight; church ministries; and various community activities. He cared for the memorial rose garden at Sun Village in Surprise and helped found the community’s potlucks.
His quiet manner, sly humor and smile will be missed.
Andy is survived by Helen, Lynette and Steven; grandchildren Shawn Aurzada (Alena) and Jasmine Cousins (Anthony); and great-grandchildren Anthony Cousins and Josie Cousins and Gabriel, Aaliyah, Zoey, Noah, Mateo and Escezan Aurzada. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Carl, Edward, Isidore and James; and sisters Agnes, Sr. Verena (OFM) and Margaret.
