Charles Edward Cook of Surprise, AZ, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at the age of 81. Born in 1938, his parents were George Cook Sr and Delores DeBoer of Muskegon, MI. Shortly after high school, he met his future wife, Sandra Lee Collier, at the local A&W where she was a carhop and they were married in 1960. He served with honor in the United States Air Force for 8 years, being stationed in Mississippi and Alaska. Later, he was employed as a sales representative in the automotive parts industry for 30 years. Together with Sandra, they raised three daughters, Laurel, Linda, and Andrea and called Southgate, MI, Copper Canyon, TX, and Surprise, AZ home during his life. He enjoyed golf, exploring the country in his RV, volunteering at the national parks, watching sports, following auto racing, and assembling jigsaw puzzles. Chuck was preceded in death by his father George, mother Delores, brother Ronald DeBoer, and sisters Helen Rose (Hap), Bertha Haizman (George), Viola Fowler (Bill) and beloved dog Daisy. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, their 3 children, Laurel Baldwin (Arthur), Linda Cook (David), Andrea Anderson (Robert). He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Alyssa Cook (J.D.), Cameron Cook, and Robert Anderson IV, by his siblings, George Cook (Rose), Phoebe Palitti, extended family Tony Smith, Lana Williams, David Krentz and dogs Gus and Sam.
A funeral service in his memory will be held January 28th,2020 at 10:00 am, at New Song Methodist Church. Memorial donations in memory of Chuck may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or the National Parks Foundation. Arrangements are being handled by Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center, 13738 W Camino Del Sol, Sun City West, AZ 85375.
