Joan L. (Kolinski) Wunderl

July 23, 1930 ~ April 22, 2020 (age 89)

Obituary

Joan L. Wunderl, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 22, 2020.

Joan was born on July 23, 1930 in West Allis Wisconsin, the daughter of Clemons and Anne (Dietrich) Kolinski. On October 14, 1950 she married James (Jim) R. Wunderl in Madison Wisconsin. Joan had two careers in life; raising six wonderful successful children; and working for AAA in Wisconsin. In 1988, Joan and Jim retired and subsequently moved to Sun Village in Surprise, AZ. Most of their retirement was spent living in a beautiful home with a golf course view, enjoying card games, dancing, and off-Broadway shows in the evenings. They also enjoyed traveling the world together with their Sun Village friends.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Jim (Jolene) Wunderl, Jill (Pete) Brown, Jeff (Hiroko) Wunderl, Jay Wunderl (James Castro), John (Jennifer) Wunderl, and Jodie (Del) Moroni; ten grandchildren and one (soon to be two) great grandchildren.  Those guiding her into heaven are her parents, husband Jim, and sister Marilyn Rosin.

Joan will be interned with her husband at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85012. No visitation or service is planned at this time due to travel restrictions.

No words can truly express the appreciation Joan and the family would like to convey to Joyce Benjamin for her many years of loving, nursing care; and Nellie, Andrew, and Alexandra, of White Dove Living Home for their comfort and care in her final years.  The family would also like to thank the many Sun Village community friends for making her retirement a fun adventure, and everyone else who brought joy and laughter into her life.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to those who provide comfort and dignity as life nears its end, your local hospice.  Please join Joan's family in sharing memories, pictures or videos on her tribute wall at www.caminodelsol.com.
