Mark Robert Terry, 72, formerly of Rockford, IL passed away October 11, 2020 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born in Evanston, IL on December 5, 1947 to Robert and Mary Louise aka “Billie” (O’Neil) Terry.
Mark was a 1965 graduate of Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, IL and attended Truman State in Kirksville, MO before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Saigon where he served as an Aircraft Mechanic during the Vietnam War. Mark married Carol Ann Cooper on April 3, 1971 and together they had three daughters. The family moved to Rockford, IL where they started Mark Terry Trucking, Inc. specializing in hauling bulk cement and fly ash products.
Mark was happiest when he was talking with friends and family about cement, trucks, cars, and boats. He could be found nearly every weekend during the summer in Lake Geneva on his boat spending time with family and friends. When not on the lake, he would enjoy attending art, music, and sporting events in support of his daughters and grandchildren.
Mark is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Jay) Goldberg of Algonquin, IL, Carin (Jason) Mahkovtz of Glendale, AZ, Stephanie (Krista Jones) Terry of Commercial Point, OH; grandchildren Hannah, Luke, and Wyatt Goldberg; and Shane and Claire Mahkovtz; siblings, Patrick Terry, and Joan (Craig Manning) Terry; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Louise, his wife Carol, and his brothers Bob and Brian.
Mark will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband and father, with a kind heart, giving spirit, positive attitude, and strong work ethic. He will be greatly missed.
Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
