Richard Edwin Conrad

1944 ~ 2020 (age 76)

Obituary

Richard Edwin Conrad passed away peaceably in his bed on Wednesday, December 9th 2020, in Surprise, Arizona.  Born in Bend, Oregon on January 5th, 1944, he relocated to Phoenix, AZ at the age of 8, and upon graduating from North High School, he joined the Navy where he spent time on a ship in the Azores.

Richard was both a devoted partner and loving father.  A loyal man, he was also one people could count on, and went to when they were in need.  And he always was the first person to offer assistance when they needed help.

The following from his life-long friend Laura Conrad: "Richard was amazingly strong.  Since a small child, he worked with zest and determination through every problem, challenge and obstacle.  No problem ever got him down because he remained loose with the problem and moved with its flow.  He saw solutions when no one else could find a solution.  His voice and words were so comforting that this often is all we needed to keep going.  He also accepted and adjusted to whatever came his way.  And he always did light up a room with his entertaining stories, which he loved to repeat with an easy-going attitude"

From his daughter Rene:  "A dedicated family man, the very fabric of our Family, our "Go-to-Guy"... he will forever be my Hero.  He is Everything.  We love you Daddy."

From his youngest daughter, Marla:  "We were so forunate to be raised by a man that knew how to love.  He had such a generous, forgiving heart, and he was always humble, treating everyone he met with respect, compassion and kindness.  He was the funniest person in the family and had a quick mind to see humor, even in difficult situations.  I am grateful because he taught us how to be kind human beings, and that there is a solution to every problem."

And from his son, Richard:  "I always knew how much everybody liked him.  But what I didn't realize how much he touched everyone's lives until I received phone calls, texts and just speaking to his family in-person over the last few years.  It wasn't just the typical "he was a great guy".  It was more of "he was our favorite uncle", or he was part of "their favorite childhood memories" and how they would count the days & months until he would come to visit"

Survivors include his best friend, love and partner in life, Liberty Scaramella. His Ex-wife, life-long friend and mother of his three children, Laura Conrad.  His children are Marla Conrad, Rene Aydelotte and Richard Conrad.  Grandchildren are Chaynna Rose Aydelotte and Scott Colvin. Step Children Russell (Lori) Scaramella & Joseph Scaramella. Step grandchildren Gina, Anthony, Michael, Zachary and Faith Scaramella.  Surviving siblings include brother William (Kaye) and sisters Wendy & Nola. Cousins Nancy, Cheri, Rhonda and many more.  Preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Daisy Conrad and sisters joyce, Wretha and Willa-Mae.
