Shirley Stoll passed away on Saturday, January 25th with her loving husband George by her side. Shirley was born on January 12th 1935 in St. John’s, Newfoundland to Cyril and May Rumsey. She immigrated to New York with her family in 1949 where she began her maturation as a real New Yorker. Shirley graduated from Baldwin High School before starting a family. She divided her time between various administrative jobs and her preferred vocation as a home-maker. Above all else, her passion and devotion were to her family – familial moments spent celebrating traditions, laughing, baking, playing games and sharing stories of her childhood in Newfoundland filled her with joy.
After thirty years in New York, Shirley gathered the family and headed to Washington before moving to Arizona in 2010. She is survived by her husband George Stoll, her siblings Donald, Barbara and Brenda and her children – Paul, Janet, Erin, Douglas, Phillip and Kimberly. She was blessed with twelve adoring grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Muriel, and Eleanor.
The magnitude of her family’s sorrow is exceeded only by the enormity of beautiful memories and love Shirley left them.
A service and celebration of Shirley’s life will take place at 2pm on Friday February 21st, 2020, at St. James Episcopal Church, 24447 94th Ave S, Kent, Washington 98030.
