On Friday, September 18, 2020, William Carl (Bill) Gerken joined many family members and friends in Heaven. He was 94. Bill was preceded in death by beloved wives Nancy (1969) and Dorothy (2005), precious grandson Jeffrey Gerken (1991) along with siblings Larry Gercken, Rosalie Krupa and youngest brother Donald Gercken.
Bill is survived by his children: Carla (Rudy) Diaz, Scott (Lori) Gerken, Kerry (Jill) Gerken and Sandy (David) Stoner, grandchildren: Bonnie La Rose (Jake Fife), Denise (Brent) Anderson, Mark (Sarah) Diaz, Jennifer (Steve) Clement and Jake (Christina) Gerken, 12 great grandchildren, siblings: Clyde (Arlene) Gercken, Norma (Neil) Cathcart, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was born on July 19th 1926 in Harvey Il. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in the South Pacific during WWII. Bill was a proud Veteran. He settled in Lansing Il after the war and started his family and business (Phillips 66 Service Station). Bill stayed in the car business as a Ford man! He and Dorothy retired in 1995 and moved to sunny Peoria, Arizona.
Bill lived out his morals and values every day. He was loved by many and admired by all. He was honest, kind and the true definition of a gentleman. He loved cars, taking care of his lawn and most of all, his family. He had many dear and lifetime friendships.
He and Dorothy will rest together at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in North Phoenix, AZ.
Bill Gerken left his mark on this world and anyone who knew him, was better for it.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held by his family on Friday October 23rd 2020 at 10:30am.
