Our History & Mission

Camino del Sol is owned and managed locally by the Darby family, who have been a pillar in funeral service for more than 60 years. The Darbys’ roots stem from Danville, IL, where they operate eight funeral homes and a memorial park. In 1989, the family opened Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel and Cremation Center, bringing their Midwest ‘neighbor-to-neighbor’ business philosophy to Sun City West, with the goal of providing value and quality service beyond comparison. By 1996, Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel and Cremation Center distinguished itself as the first and only licensed endowed-care cemetery in the area.
